All about ethnic skin care

Ethnic skin care is important because not all kinds of skin need the same type of care.  However, it is important to keep in mind that ethnic skin care is less an issue of ethnicity and more an issue of exactly what kind of skin you have.  In general, people of a certain ethnicity have a specific type of skin, but this is only a general guideline, so it’s important to know your specific skin type, no matter what your ethnicity is. It’s easy to take care of your skin as long as you know exactly what type of skin you have.

The biggest difference among different types of ethnic skin care is the effect of the sun.  For example, those with dark skin may think they don’t have to worry about sunscreen.  However, this is a myth because although they may have more protection then fairer-skinned people, African Americans can still get skin cancer if they aren’t careful.  African-American skin is also traditionally oilier, although this is becoming less and less of a guideline for many African Americans.  Asians, on the other hand, will usually tan much easier than other shades of skin color.  However, they are much more prone to brown patches that can give them a more splotchy complexion.

One of the most important things you can do to take care of your skin is a daily cleansing routine.  Depending on whether you have dry or oily skin, you may need to do this once to three times per day.  You should definitely avoid scented products if you have sensitive skin, no matter what type of ethnic skin care you follow.

If you have dry skin, you’ll need to use a moisturizer up to three times per day.  Avoid products with retinol or vitamin A because these can dry your skin out even more.  Also avoid moisturizers that seem too greasy, as they can lead to acne.

Another important thing to remember with any ethnic skin care routine is that healthy skin starts from the inside.  People of all ethnicities must eat a well-balanced diet.  Fruits and vegetables will make your skin look younger and more vibrant.  When in doubt, always opt for the natural choice.  Sleep also plays an important role in the skin’s overall appearance.  If you don’t get enough sleep, you’ll start by getting bags under your eyes.  From there, the toll on your entire skill will just worse and worse if you don’t start sleeping enough.

Drinking enough water is also very important for any skin care routine.  You need eight glasses of water per day to keep your body healthy and your skin looking radiant.  Water flushes out toxins and keeps your cells hydrated.

If you have a lot of problems with your skin, then you should see a dermatologist.  You should always avoid anything that aggravates your sensitive skin, and it’s a good idea to find an ethic skin care specialist if you decide to have cosmetic surgery of any kind.
