Advice On How To Lighten Skin

If you have been having a problem with blotchy or combination skin, you can benefit by learning how to lighten skin, naturally. There are chemical creams and dermatologist administered laser treatments that can reduce the pigment of the skin. But there are also easier, less expensive ways to do this everyday, at home. If you are interested in learning how to lighten skin without spending a lot of cash or going through unhealthy treatments, you can start by including a few things into your everyday routine.

The first bit of advice is to stay out of the sun. This is almost impossible to do when we have to travel to work and do outside chores but you can limit your time outdoors when the sun is the strongest. In the morning, the sun is not as intense as in the afternoon. Between 11AM and 4 PM the sun is not only warmer but it contains more harmful UVA and UVB rays. You should avoid the sun during these times but even in the early morning sun, your face can be damaged from these types of rays.

That is why it is so important to apply a sun block on the face and neck area everyday. Use a lotion that has a high SPF factor. The higher the SPF, the more protection the product offers. Make sure to concentrate on the areas you would like to be lighter and reapply the lotion after swimming or exercise. Remember that even in shade, these rays can penetrate the skin. So use the sun block consistently.

Another good tip on how to lighten skin would be to use a skin lightening lotion. But you will have to look at the ingredients because some of these lotions contain harmful substances. These substances include mercury, steroids and hydroquinone. All of these things are linked to skin cancer, thinning skin and stretch marks and even bloodstream contaminations. Of course, these things can produce results quickly and this is why many people still use them. There are natural plants and extracts that can do the same thing, and at a fraction of the cost. Extracts of mushrooms, licorice and papaya are known to naturally lighten the skin without any additional risks.

Vitamin C has many health benefits and it is a powerful antioxidant. It also is known for slowing down the production of melanin within the body. This melanin is responsible for the pigment of your skin. When you spend too much time in the sun, the melanin produces a red or brown color to the skin as protection. But vitamin C inhibits the production. But you should never take more than the recommended dosage of vitamin C as a way to lighten your skin. You can however, use lotions along with the vitamin for a more effective solution.

Using lemon juice combined with yogurt is another important way to learn how to lighten skin. This combination can safely be applied to the face twice a day. You can also use lemon juice alone for the exact same results but it can be drying to the skin. The yogurt also hydrates the skin to keep it healthy. Papaya and papaya extract is a known skin lightener, so you can also use papaya organic soap to add into your daily cleansing routine.  It is recommended that you lather up with the soap and leave it on your skin for a full 3 minutes before rinsing. You can repeat this process twice a day but make sure to also use a moisturizing lotion because this can also be drying to the skin.
